Engagement Opportunities with the Translation and Communication Interest Group

It’s an exciting time of year with several upcoming opportunities to engage with members of the Translation and Communications Interest Group at AcademyHealth.  Read on for more details:

1. Two days left! Submit your abstracts for the Translation & Communication Interest Group Meeting at the 2015 ARM
Deadline: Thursday, January 29 at 5:00 pm ET

We invite submission of abstracts for panel or individual presentations, and poster presentations. We are interested in presentations that focus on practical ways to understand, translate, and communicate research findings to meet the needs of various audiences, including improving the quality of information that informs health policy development. Topics of interest include effective communication, such as understanding how media messages affect knowledge, opinions, and politics, and how research findings can be effectively translated and incorporated into health care programs.  Submitted abstracts will undergo blind peer review by a committee of volunteers.

2. Attending the 2015 National Health Policy Conference? Don’t miss “Success Stories in Translating and Disseminating Research”

Tuesday, February 10 | 7:30-8:45 a.m.
Renaissance Washington, D.C. Downtown Hotel

Please join us for a breakfast conversation highlighting recent success stories in translating and disseminating public health systems research to the policy and practice communities and the implications for other researchers seeking to maximize the impact of their work.

Nathan Hale, Ph.D., will discuss his experience as a mentee in the new AcademyHealth Public Health Systems Research (PHSR) Dissemination Mentors Program. Sharon Long, Ph.D., will talk about her work regarding the Evaluation of Health Reform in Massachusetts, for which she received AcademyHealth’s 2012 HSR Impact Award. Leighton Ku, Ph.D., M.P.H., will provide insight and commentary from his extensive experience conducting and communicating health policy research to decision makers.  Yours truly has the honor of moderating this conversation.

This session is co-sponsored by AcademyHealth's Public Health Systems Research, Advocacy, and Translation and Communications Interest Groups. This meeting is free, however prior registration is required.
